A project event in Hungary to mark the European Cooperation Day

Marking the European Week of Sport and the European Cooperation Day, a conference within the framework of “Support sport and physical activity of girls – ActiveGirls” project was held the Hungarian town of Szentes on Friday, 28 September 2018. The conference is one in a series of activities being implemented within the EU project “Support sport and physical activity of girls – ActiveGirls“, which is supported under the Interreg IPA Cross-border Cooperation Programme Hungary-Serbia. In addition to the Provincial Secretariat for Sports and Youth, the European Affairs Fund of AP Vojvodina, with their partners: Szentes Municipality (Hungary) and Szeged Tisza Squash Sport Club marked the European Week of Sport, an initiative launched by the European Commission, which aimed at promoting sport and physical activity throughout Europe, and thus gathering different decision makers, stakeholders and experts in the field of sport. The participants in the conference were informed about the “Active Girls” project, its objectives, results and planned activities, as well as examples of best practice regarding the participation of women in sport.
Another special cause marked within the framework of the event was the European Cooperation Day. The European Cooperation Day is marked annually in September when the achievements in territorial cooperation are celebrated in different European regions. The “Active Girls“ project participated in this year’s celebration of the European Cooperation Day within the Interreg IPA Cross-border Cooperation Programme Hungary-Serbia and thus presented the cross-border cooperation between Hungary and Serbia at work and highlighted the importance of EU investments in the region.
Parallel to the events at the Cultural Centre hall, there was a promotion and presentation of sports clubs, young athletes and their trainers from Szentes on the square in front of the building.
