Volunteer Fire Brigades in South Bačka District Receive New I.D. DANUBE Equipment

On 30 January 2026, as part of the EU-supported “Interventions on the Danube – I.D. DANUBE” project under the Interreg VI-A IPA Croatia–Serbia 2021–2027 programme, modern firefighting equipment was delivered to volunteer fire brigades in South Bačka District.

The equipment was received by volunteer fire brigades from Petrovaradin, Šajkaš, Despotovo, Tovariševo, and Bođani, and was officially handed over by Ognjen Dopuđ, Director of Fund for European Affairs and Development of the AP of Vojvodina, a project partner, in the presence of representatives of the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Serbia – Sector for Emergency Situations, including Predrag Lukić, Head of the Department for Cooperation with Volunteer Fire Brigades of the Firefighting and Rescue Units Administration, Stojan Milovac, Head of the Emergency Situations Administration in Novi Sad, and Igor Adam, Commander of the Firefighting and Rescue Battalion in Novi Sad.

The event was also attended by key fire association leaders: Jovica Ivković, General Secretary of the Firefighting Association of Serbia, Tijana Kuzman, General Secretary of the Vojvodina Firefighting Association, Siniša Šavija, President of Vojvodina Firefighting Association and Vice President of Serbian Firefighting Association and Milisav Galić, Commander of Vojvodina Firefighting Association.

The new equipment including protective suits, helmets, boots, belts with axes, hoods, fire backpacks, and chainsaws, boosts the capacity of volunteer fire brigades and ensures they are better prepared to respond to emergencies.

Launched on 1 September 2024, I.D. DANUBE project (HR-RS00034) runs until 28 February 2027 with a total budget of €1.79 million, largely funded by the European Union. The project strengthens cross-border cooperation and boosts the capacity of civil protection and firefighting-rescue services along the Danube.
