Opening conference of the Cornucopia project
The opening ceremony of the EU project “Competitive sustainability of agricultural enterprises through the development of new products with added value based on alternative plant species – CORNUCOPIA” has been held at the Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Novi Sad. The speakers were Branko Ćupina PhD, Vice-dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Marko Rovčanin, Assistant Secretary, Provincial Secretariat for Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry, and Vidosava Enderić, Director of the European Affairs Fund of AP Vojvodina.
“As agriculture is one of the leading economic branches of the area in which we live, I think it is important that today we are presenting a project aimed at encouraging joint research in order to improve the capacities for employment and development of small and medium enterprises in agriculture and food industry. The Common Agricultural Policy is certainly one of the key principles of the European Union, thus this is the second in a series of projects of the Fund dealing with this topic. I am very pleased that the European Affairs Fund of AP Vojvodina is a part of the consortium of partners having experience in this area – the Faculty of Agriculture in Novi Sad, Association of Gardeners Senta, as well as the National Agricultural Research and Innovation Centre, Lavina Foundation, Cereal Research Non-Profit Limited Company from Hungary”, said Enderić.
The important aspects of the project were presented by Norbert Somogyi PhD, Melinda Tar PhD, Péter Balogh, Jano Puškar of the European Affairs Fund of AP Vojvodina, László Lengyel, Katalin Ács, and Goran Jaćimović, project team members.
The total value of the CORNUCOPIA project is EUR 352,798.57, of which the EU contribution is EUR 299,878.77. The project will last until 31 March 2020.
