Austria is to join the Economic Development Plan of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina

A meeting of the MATRIOSCA INTERREG IIIb project has been held this week in the Austrian city of Graz. Pursuant to the Decision of the Executive Council of Vojvodina, experts from Vojvodina are participating in the project. This time, members of the Working Groups: Transport, infrastructure and local development, Spatial planning and development and Cooperation among urban centres and municipalities had a meeting.

Moreover, discussions were held with the coordinators-experts of the Government of Austria with reference to the possibility for the participation of Austria, i.e. Austrian Development Agency in the Economic Development Plan of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina. The Austrian partners will be having a number of meetings with the managers of certain projects within the Economic Development Plan in our province this month.

”I would like to point out that the Economic Development Plan of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina was drawn in cooperation with the Ministry of International Economic Relations of the Republic of Serbia. Strategic relations with European partners are of utmost importance for Serbia’s European way”, said Predrag Novikov, Director of the Office for European Affairs, in his discussions with the representatives of the Austrian Development Agency, who would decide whether to participate in some of the aspects of the plan.

For the time being, Austrian experts have shown greatest interest in the following projects: Joint Fund for Building Business Incubators, Vojvodina Investment Promotion Fund (VIP), Business Standardisation and Certification Scheme, Agricultural Export Promotion Fund, Centre for Strategic Economic Studies of Vojvodina (Vojvodina CESS) and Integrated Qualification Scheme.

After the discussions to be held in September, it can be expected that the Austrian partners will have produced a report by the end of the year, on basis of which a decision on the projects in which they will participate will be made.
