EU Enlargement Day 2019: Representatives of local self-governments from AP Vojvodina at a session of the Joint Consultative Committee at the Committee of the Regions

A session of the Joint Consultative Committee of the Committee of the Regions (CoR) and the Republic of Serbia on the topic of the rule of law at the local level was held in the headquarters of the Committee of the Regions in Brussels on 18 and 19 June. On behalf of the AP Vojvodina, Róbert Fejsztámer, Mayor of Kanjiža, Nenad Milenković, Mayor of Sremski Karlovci, and Mira Radenović, member of the City Council for Urbanism and Environmental Protection of the City of Novi Sad, actively participated in the session. In addition to the diplomatic representatives of the Republic of Serbia, i.e. other permanent members of the Committee from other local self-governments and the competent ministry, the participants affirmatively talked about previous practice and achievements in the field of the rule of law, especially from the perspective of national minorities in the territory of AP Vojvodina.
The Enlargement Day was held on the second day, 19th June, which brought together local and regional representatives from all five candidate countries for membership of the European Union, as well as other relevant stakeholders from the local and regional levels. The speakers on behalf of the Republic of Serbia were Ivan Bošnjak, State Secretary at the Ministry of the Public Administration and Local Self-Government, Goran Vesić, Deputy Mayor of the City of Belgrade.
The representatives of AP Vojvodina in Brussels provided professional and technical support to the committee members during their two-day stay in Brussels.
