Members of the Council of Žabalj Municipality in a two-day visit to Brussels

The Vojvodina European Office in Brussels hosted the members of the Council of Žabalj Municipality, who were visiting Brussels on 13th and 14th June 2019. The delegation of the Council of Žabalj Municipality comprised of 19 members was led by Radovan Čolić, President of the Municipal Council. This visit was used to build the capacity of the local self-government by acquainting the local council members with the EU institutions, in particular institutions responsible for regional and local development, pre-accession funding programmes, as well as the work of the Mission of the Republic of Serbia to the European Union, i.e. the Vojvodina European Office in Brussels.

On the first day of their visit, they were the guests of the European Parliament (EP) attending an expect lecture when they were informed about the decision-making process, i.e. the legislative process in the EU, as well as the results of the recently held elections for the EP. On the second day, the representatives of the Committee of the Regions, Petri Mirala and Slaven Klobučar informed the council members about the available funds aimed at local and regional development, as well as about the work of the Joint Consultative Committee of the Committee of the Regions and the Republic of Serbia. After that, the council members were welcomed at the Mission by the Deputy Head of Mission, Ambassador Miloš Todorović and Head of VEO in Brussels Srđan Mačkić. On that occasion, the council members were informed about the activities within the European integration process which were undertaken both by the Mission and the Vojvodina European Office within the scope of their activities.
