The eighth cycle of the Specialised Program “Management of Regional Development through EU Funds” begins

NOVI SAD – The opening of the VIII cycle of the Specialised Program “Management of Regional Development through EU Funds”, which the “European Affairs” Fund has been implementing with the Provincial Government since 2014, was announced today in the Provincial Government.
The program will cover public procurement, management responsibilities, capacity development in cities and municipalities for more efficient use of available financial resources from European funds.
The Director of the Fund “European Affairs”, Aleksandar Simurdić, on this occasion, stated that the mentioned Fund will implement this program in cooperation with the Provincial Government for many years, with an emphasis on Local Self-Government Units.
“The program that we will start next week brings together all 45 units of Local Self-Government in AP Vojvodina, and represents a comprehensive strengthening of human, institutional and administrative capacities. We want to give a strong impetus to economic and regional development “, said Simurdić.

The President of the Provincial Government, Igor Mirović, pointed out that Vojvodina has shown good results in the past period in attracting funds from European Funds. According to him, in the next period from 2021-2027 even greater readiness must be demonstrated through engagement at the local level.
“My associates from the European Affairs Fund of Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, with people from NALED, from the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs, with whom we signed a cooperation agreement, from the Swedish Development Agency, as well as local government representatives agree that the goal is to build local government capacity, especially the less developed ones “, said Mirović.
“NALED readily accepted to be a part of this program, because that is our strategic goal. We want to strengthen the capacities of public administration, in order to be an efficient service to citizens and the economy “, said the executive Director of the National Alliance for Local Economic Development (NALED) Violeta Jovanović.
The conference was also attended by the Provincial Secretary of Finance, Smiljka Jovanović, the Provincial Secretary for Regional Development, Interregional Cooperation and Local Self-Government, Aleksandar Sofić, and representatives of cities and local self-governments in AP Vojvodina.
