A meeting in Brussels with the new Commissioner for Enlargement

The President of the Assembly of AP Vojvodina István Pásztor and Vice-President of the Assembly of AP Vojvodina Damir Zobenica talked to the newly appointed Commissioner for Enlargement Olivér Várhelyi at the European Commission in Brussels on 7 December 2019.
President Pásztor said that he was very pleased that Commissioner Várhelyi received the delegation of the Assembly of AP Vojvodina just a few days after the election and confirmation of the new composition of the European Commission at the European Parliament at the end of November, and assessed that it was a message indicating preparedness for partnership with the Republic of Serbia.
He emphasised that after the meeting with the new Commissioner, it was confirmed that after his appointment, Serbia could be more optimistic about the process of enlargement, that Serbia would have an interlocutor understanding well the atmosphere in Western Balkans and that he was ready to make steps which would contribute to the European perspective of that part of Europe.
“I am sure that Commissioner Várhelyi shall be our country’s friend who will be dedicated to our country’s further accession to the EU“, indicated Pásztor.
President Pásztor and Vice-President Zobenica talked to Vladimír Bilčík, new European Parliament rapporteur for Serbia at the European Parliament on 6th December. Both parties expressed their willingness for open and constructive cooperation in the future. Moreover, the representatives of the Assembly of AP Vojvodina also attended the Bureau Meeting of the Assembly of European Regions (AER) in Brussels, organisation in which Damir Zobenica was one of the vice-presidents in charge of economic development.
