The fifth session of the training course for health workers within the “Mosquito Control in Cross-border Area – MOS Cross“ project

Within the framework of the “Mosquito Control in Cross-border Area – MOS Cross“ project, the fifth two-day training course for health workers has been held in Novi Sad. The project aims at improving the provision of public health services in West Bačka District and Osijek Baranya County regarding early detection of mosquito-borne diseases.

During the project, a total of 5 training sessions have been planned to be held, at which the health workers will round off and increase their knowledge about mosquitoes and the diseases they transmit. The Public Health Institute Sombor and Institute of Public Health for the Osijek-Baranya County have procured a supervision system and laboratory equipment in the project, whereas the health workers have been trained to control mosquitoes and sample methods for the detection of mosquito-borne diseases, such as Zika virus and the West Nile virus, in the course of the training sessions held so far.
The last training session focused on the use of ICT tool that would monitor the presence of infectious mosquito species in the cross-border region.
On the first day, the participants expanded their knowledge about the functions of the programme and its operation. On the second day they had gained hand-on experience in the application.

The training session was attended by a total of 20 health workers of the Public Health Institute Sombor and Institute of Public Health for the Osijek-Baranya County, 10 per institution, along with the project team members.
