Signing of the Agreement on business and technical cooperation between the University of Novi Sad and the Fund “European Affairs” of Autonomous Province of Vojvodina

Director of the The European Affairs Fund of AP Vojvodina, Aleksandar Simurdić and Rector of the University of Novi Sad, prof. Dr. Dejan Jakšić, signed today an Agreement on business and technical cooperation which specifies cooperation in the implementation of the project “Strengthening entrepreneurial skills of cultural and creative industry for valorization of cultural heritage and development of sustainable tourism models in the Adriatic-Ionian region – CCI4TOURISM” funded by Intereg V-B Adriatic-Ionian Program – ADRION 2014-2020.

Both institutions have expressed readiness to participate in the project to encourage the growth and development of the cultural and creative industries, both locally and transnationally, with an emphasis on improving the services and products of sustainable cultural tourism in the Adriatic-Ionian region.

“I would like to thank the University of Novi Sad for their support in concluding this Agreement. I am pleased with the data that the sector of cultural and creative industries in Serbia consists of over 30,000 registered companies that employ more than 115,000 workers. Cultural and creative industries are a fast-growing sector that provides added value, and it is also a relatively resilient sector in economic crises,” said director Aleksandar Simurdić.

Rector, prof. Dr. Dejan Jakšić, stressed that this is certainly just an introduction to the continuation of future mutual cooperation in the development of joint development projects and that the academic community, based on previous results and experience, has much to offer in future joint cooperation, taking into account the fact that the University of Novi Sad is a member of the Danube Rectors’ Conference and UniAdrion (Association of Universities and Research Centers of the Adriatic-Ionian Region).

The signing of this agreement defines the legal framework for the establishment of the Creative hub at the University, which will be one of the results of the CCI4TOURISM project, and which will be made available to all interested representatives of the cultural and creative industries.
