Meetings of the Working Groups of the European MATRIOSCA project at the Executive Council

Novi Sad, 13 November – The meetings of the Working Groups of the European MATRIOSCA project are being held at the Executive Council of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina on Monday, 13 November and Tuesday, 14 November.

“Our partners are here in Vojvodina with us today, because this administration of the Executive Council has friends and partners all over the continent. We are proud of it. Our policy, i.e. the policy of the Executive Council is further development of cooperation, understanding and stability of common European ground. It is based on the construction of what has been destroyed, on the future, prosperity and optimism. Therefore, this project is of value, for it is based on the principles of unity, compromise and adoption of standards. We have to build our future respecting ourselves, as well as acknowledging other members of our common European family”, said Predrag Novikov, Director of the Office for European Affairs, greeting the guests from the Austrians states of Styria, Carinthia and Burgenland, Italian regions of Friuli-Venezia Giulia and Veneto, Slovenia, Hungarian counties of Baranya, Győr-Moson-Sopron, Somogy, Tolna, Vas and Zala, Croatian counties of Koprivnica – Križevci, Varaždin and Istria.

The project aims at harmonising strategies in different fields of social and economic development in the region. Strategically, the participants of the project, i.e. recognized experts in their own fields of work, are preparing a number of transnational projects for candidacy in the new EU programme period of 2007-2013.

The work is being done in four thematic Working Groups: Transport, infrastructure and local development, Spatial planning and development, Cooperation among urban centres and municipalities and Socio-economic development and cooperation.
