EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
- improving the level of key competencies and skills,
- promoting and raising awareness of forms of lifelong learning,
- improving the international dimension of education and training,
- improving language teaching and learning and promoting linguistic diversity and intercultural awareness of the Union.
YOUNG:
- improving the level of key abilities and skills of young people through the mobility of young people active in working with young people or youth organizations,
- improving the quality of youth work,
- policy reforms at the local, regional and national level,
- improving the international dimension of youth activities and the role of youth workers i organization.
SPORT:
- dealing with cross-border challenges to the integrity of sport, such as doping, match-fixing and violence, as well as all kinds of intolerance and discrimination,
- promoting and supporting good governance in sports and the dual career of athletes,
- improving awareness of the importance of increasing physical activity for health.

The program is divided into 3 basic areas:
- education,
- young and
- sport.
The program includes three key activities and two subprograms.
KEY ACTIVITY 1– Mobility projects for learning and acquiring new skills, joint master’s studies, events within the European Voluntary Service.
KEY ACTIVITY 2– Institutional cooperation projects for innovation and exchange of good practices, strategic partnerships in the field of education, training and youth, knowledge alliances, sector skills alliances, capacity building in the field of youth, capacity building in the field of higher education .
KEY ACTIVITY 3– Projects to support educational policy reforms, structural dialogue, meetings of young people and decision makers in the field of youth.

Institutions that have the right to participate in Erasmus+ projects must belong to the so-calledprogram countries, while certain parts of the program, especially those related to higher education, are also open to participants from the so-calledpartner countries.

- EFTA members (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland)
- Candidate countries: Turkey, North Macedonia, Serbia

The Republic of Serbia has participated in the Erasmus+ program since the beginning, continuing its continuous participation in the educational programs of the European Union since 2001. Although initially a partner country, in 2016 the Republic of Serbia began preparatory measures for full participation in the program as a program country, and from the competition deadline for 2019 it participates as a full member of the Erasmus+ program.
From 2014 until now, educational institutions and youth organizations from Serbia have been coordinators or partners in projects with a total value of over 95 million euros.
