A round table was held within the I. D. Danube project

First roundtable within project „Interventions on Danube – I. D. Danube“ was organized in Novi Sad on February 26,2026. Two roundtables are to be organized within project that is being realized with EU support through Interreg VI-A IPA Programme Croatia – Serbia. This Round table tacled joint analyses of river traffic on the Danube River.
The event brought together experts in the field of river transport from the cross-border area of the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Croatia, with the aim of improving cooperation and exchange of experiences in the field of navigation safety on the Danube River.
In addition to partners on the project: the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Serbia – Sector for Emergency Situations, the Fund for European Affairs and Development of the APV, the Vukovar-Srijem County and the Public Institution of the Vukovar Port Authority, the roundtable included representatives of The Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Serbia – Directorate for Waterways, Port Management Agency and Provincial Secretariat for Energy, Construction and Transport of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, as well as representatives of the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Croatia – Directorate of Civil Protection, Regional Office in Vukovar. Through a constructive discussion, the participants analyzed the current state of river traffic, identified key risks and considered opportunities for improving coordination in emergency situations.
It was emphasized that the Danube, being an international waterway, is of exceptional importance for economic development, transport of goods and population safety, and that coordinated interventions and timely exchange of information are key factors for effective risk management and adequate response to emergency situations.
The first roundtable represent an important step in the implementation of project activities, while the second planned gathering of the professional public will be held in the Republic of Croatia, with the aim of further discussing topics of common interest, exchanging experiences and defining specific recommendations for improving cross-border cooperation in the field of river transport on the Danube.
